Welcome to InterVarsity in the Rocky Mountains

The Rocky Mountain RegionWelcome to InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA® in the Rocky Mountain Region! We are glad you have stopped by. Please take a look around to learn more about what's happening in the region, and feel free to contact us with any questions!

Well over 60 years ago, Frances Dey, an elderly woman in Denver was compelled to pray for something to happen on the college campuses in the Rocky Mountains.  She didn't know what He would do,  but she was convinced that God needed to do something!  That something was the birth of InterVarsity in the Rocky Mountains.  Beginning in Colorado, student fellowships began to quickly spread through the dedicated work of a small team of staff and energetic student leaders.

Currently, the Rocky Mountain Region stretches throughout eight states between the borders of Canada and Mexico.  Each chapter is committed to the charge to transform lives of students and faculty, renew  the campus and change the world.  It's a big vision, but we have a big God who wants all peoples to know him and the good news he brings through his son, Jesus Christ.

Since it's inception, IV in the Rockies has kept it's emphasis on prayer and the scriptures central.  Each of the 26 chapters serve students in faculty with a combination of large and small group programs focusing on understanding and applying scripture while being dependant on God in prayer.  In response to our call to be "ambassadors for Christ" we seek to find ways to be salt and light to the campus community and beyond.  Each summer, students partake in global mission projects around the world and at home.  Chapter Camp is a week in May when campuses gather to learn about the missional call to campus, to study scripture, recreate, worship and enjoy the beauty of the Rockies at Bear Trap Ranch, our training facility outside of Colorado Springs.

So, follow the links and check us out.  Feel free to contact me directly if you have questions that are left unanswered or if you want to hear more of the story of what God did to answer Mrs. Dey's prayer for God to show up on campus.

Grace and Peace,
Bob Coughlin
